editing torrc causes "unexpected exit" error

I installed the TOR browser and it works fine as long as I don't edit the torrc file but I need to edit it for my server. Do note that I don't have Vidalia installed. I also installed TOR as a standard user. When I do edit the file, TOR complains with
"Tor unexpectedly exited. This might be due to a bug in Tor itself, another program on your system, or faulty hardware. Until you restart Tor, the Tor Browser will not able to reach any websites. If the problem persists, please send a copy of your Tor Log to the support team."

My torrc file:
# This file was generated by Tor; if you edit it, comments will not be preserved
# The old torrc file was renamed to torrc.orig.1 or similar, and Tor will ignore it
DataDirectory /home/user/.tor/Browser/TorBrowser/Data/Tor
GeoIPFile /home/user/.tor/Browser/TorBrowser/Data/Tor/geoip
GeoIPv6File /home/user/.tor/Browser/TorBrowser/Data/Tor/geoip6
HiddenServiceDir /home/ServerData/TORstuffs/
HiddenServicePort 80 127.0.0.1:80

Tor works perfectly fine if I replace my file with the original, for some reason. I'm running version 5.0. I've configured the torrc file for Windows before and it worked just fine.
