Krename is a wonderful tool to help with batch renumbering.
Yes, it is, but it's really tricky in renaming folders and it doesn't support saving renaming rules aka profiles

@kurt- the easiest way I know to make the numbering system work by default in linux is to use all of the numbering positions, ie- if the highest number you have is 120, then you would use all three positions when numbering 1, which would be 001..
Yes I know that is poosible but why should we have to jump through hoops just to get a natural order of sort. DOLPHIN does it correctly why not GWENVIEW.

Following the upgrade to the new kernel, 4.1.5-1, I'm getting weird visual effects when switching applications or windows, for example. The top part of the screen seems to flash and flicker in a rather disturbing way. (It makes me feel slightly ill.)
I've got the Intel integrated graphics associated with all the recent crashes and I have not switched back to UXA. Since rebooting, I've not had a single crash (and it has been at least 10 minutes or so) but the flickering and flashing is actually worse.
Does anybody know what might be the cause? Or, alternatively, does anybody know what this kind of effect is called so that I can do a proper search for help?
Has the patch mentioned in the comment at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86281#c42 been applied to the current kernel in Arch? If so, that might explain the flickering...? (And maybe it will be less nausea-inducing if I think of it as a step-on-the-way-to-better-things....)
This answer fixed it for me : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1548150

Are you using openjdk7 and running a java application?

I had something similar, and i had to add this line QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native to /etc/environment

Hi guys,
I'm having a weird issue with krunner. I'm running testing with kde-unstable and a few AUR git versions of packages such as plasma-desktop...
My issue is that krunner is invisible! Well when I press Alt + Space the current window becomes unfocused so something is activated but krunner doesn't show.
If I activate krunner when no window is covering the desktop, there is a tiny white dot visible where krunner should be.
This problem happens whether I use krunner 5.13 or krunner-git from the AUR. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, deleting the config file and even making a new user. Still the same problem.
In all three application launchers however, the krunner plugin works so I can use it from these.
Thanks,
P

This is calling for trouble. You can't cherry-pick git versions of only some packages. Either you update everything to git (including all plasma and kf5 packages) or you use the stable version or the beta version of everything. This may be caused by plasma git using some new API that is not yet released in KF5.

Thanks. Now everything is from kde-unstable and krunner is back.

Just updated kde-applications to 15.08 and kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbnailer is no longer working for me. Anyone noticed this? Solutions?

Are you using the kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs-15.08.0-1 ?
It is installing:
pacman -Ql kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/lib/
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/lib/kde4/
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/lib/kde4/ffmpegthumbs.so
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/share/
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/share/kde4/
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/share/kde4/services/
kdemultimedia-ffmpegthumbs /usr/share/kde4/services/ffmpegthumbs.desktop
It is for the KDE4.
The plasma 5 (Folder View) and the Dolphin 15.08 will need the KF5 version of the ffmpegthumbs.

Yep, do you know the package name for kf5 version? Is it even in the repos yet?

Ok. So now KDE is just completely useless. Lagging just to open directories, glitches, invisible icons, and probably a lot of other nice things which I still didnt notice. Nice. Thanks.

With dolphin 15.08.0 I miss icons for some file types (e.g. jpg, png, json, mkv...). I'm still on KDE4. I installed ffmpegthumbs-git but it didn't help. Any clue? Thanks.

qt5-svg (generally install the qt5 group)

qt5-svg (generally install the qt5 group)
I already have it installed. Note that I'm not complaining about missing thumbnails but rather about missing icons.

frameworkintegration worked, thanks. I like kf5 being modular so I prefer to install only what I need (the difficult thing is to figure out what I need )

I allready had frameworkintegration and qt5-svg installed, still no icon. I'm Using Openbox as window manager. Before the last update everything was working fine.
The strange things is that i don't think i'm missing some packages to be installed, cos if i start the session with startkde instead of openbox-session the problem isn't there.
Some hint?

you can try to run "kcmshell5 filetypes" in a console, and set manually the icon for each type of file,
kcmshell5 belongs to "kde-cli-tools" package

thxs Potomac for tryin' but still no luck.
I add a screenshot because it worth thousand words (screenshot image)
Like suggested in the KDE archwiki, under KDE and Qt programs look bad when in a different window manager, it seems to me that i will need to tell Qt how to find KDE's styles. The wiki
suggested two ways:
- set the environment variable QT_PLUGIN_PATH with "export QT_PLUGIN_PATH=$HOME/.kde4/lib/kde4/plugins/:/usr/lib/kde4/plugins/" in etc/profile or ~/.profile
I added QT_PLUGIN_PATH to /etc/profile, ~/.profile, ~/.xinitrc, ~/.bashrc, still nothin' changed (even after various reboot)
- symlink the Qt styles directory to the KDE styles one with "ln -s /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/styles/ /usr/lib/qt4/pluginlib32-libdbusmenu-glibs/styles"
I didn't have the folder "/usr/lib/qt4/pluginlib32-libdbusmenu-glibs/styles" but "/usr/lib/qt4/plugins/styles".
I substituted the folder, still nothin' changed
I think that the problem is the one suggested by the wiki, but their solution isn't.
