Re: KF 5 & Plasma

@Kicka : someone has discovered that there are 2 versions of dolphin :

- the KF5 version of dolphin ( /usr/bin/dolphin )
- the KDE4 version of dolphin ( /usr/bin/dolphin4 )

you can try "dolphin4", dolphin4 belongs to the "dolphinpart4" package, with this version I can see all the icons

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

I had a full update today and all my desktop icons disappeared. I checked that it is set to "folder view" mode and the visible folder contents is ~/Desktop, I disabled and re-enabled it, still the same problem. When I try to create a new folder in my desktop (right click -> Create new -> Folder), I get the message "Error - Plasma Malformed URL/New Folder". Why?

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Anyone use KDE with wayland?
I try to start it with: kwin_wayland --libinput --xwayland "plasmashell --platform wayland"
but it does not work.

Here is the output:
no screens available, assuming 24-bit color
FATAL ERROR: could not create a backend, exiting now

I cant found anything about it, and there is no --verbose output.

Fixed it, by re-selecting current activity

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Has anyone found the new location of KF5 Dolphin's single/double click navigation toggle? The new Dolphin reverted to single click navigation and I have yet to find a way to switch it back. I can live with single click but I'd prefer double click due to old habits and muscle memory.

On Plasma 5.3 or 5.4 ? I tried on 5.4 in a KaOs Live ISO, on two different laptops, both with Intel graphics (but not the same generation of CPU) ; on one of them, it worked, but on the other one, I got the same error message as you.

Same here.

However, If you specify the desktop folder directly with "specify a folder" (location tab), then change it back to "show the desktop folder" it seems to fix it. Haven't tried restarting though, so the fix could be temporary.

Have you tried the official way?

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Doesn't work here either. I'm using Plasma 5.4 from testing and everything is up-to-date. I do get a black flicker when I try to launch it but it crashes.
I used all the examples I found here and the official one too "kwin_wayland --xwayland"

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

When they announced "a preview of a Plasma Wayland session" for 5.4, I was hoping for a "Plasma on Wayland" entry in SDDM...

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

How can i force baloo to index c source files?
This is my .config/baloofilerc:

[Basic Settings]
Indexing-Enabled=true

[General]
dbVersion=1
exclude filters=*.elc,_darcs,.bzr,CMakeTmp,.pch,confstat,core-dumps,*.part,*.lo,cmake_install.cmake,*.aux,*.moc,*.class,Makefile.am,.obj,moc_*.cpp,CVS,CMakeTmpQmake,*.rej,*.gmo,confdefs.h,.uic,*.vm*,lzo,.moc,CMakeFiles,ui_*.h,*.loT,*~,lost+found,*.swap,config.status,.xsession-errors*,*.o,libtool,*.m4,*.pc,.hg,po,.histfile.*,qrc_*.cpp,*.pyc,*.tmp,CTestTestfile.cmake,*.nvram,litmain.sh,*.la,conftest,autom4te,*.orig,.git,*.po,*.rcore,.svn,CMakeCache.txt,*.omf,*.csproj
exclude filters version=2
first run=false
folders[$e]=/run/media/federico/DATA/,$HOME/

As you can see, there is no "*.c" (or "*.h") in exclude filters, yet i'm not able to find my c sources.

Thanks!

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Well, plasma has to ship a wayland-session entry in /usr/share/xsessions too.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Anyone had issues with drag and drop with the update before 5.4?
Here is a link to a video showing the issue: http://galactica.no-ip.org/index.php/s/7vINvd6U941CbrY

It is an issue with:
* folders and items in dolphin.
* plasma add widgets (dragging it from the menu to drop on the desktop)
* plasma items on panels etc....

Using dolphin4 does not show this issue.

I have this. Not only in Dolphin, it's also present in, for example, Teamspeak.
