Hi there, I am currently having some issues with my audio and I think skype is to blame.
my first thought was that I had accidentally muted something, but alsamixer is showing that nothing is muted or looking out of the ordinary.
When my computer starts from a cold boot all audio seems to be working fine from multiple sources(speaker-test, chrome, spotify, etc..) but once skype is started audio fails to work again until the computer is restarted, even if skype is shutdown.
This problem started very recently, audio and skype were working perfectly fine before. To try and fix the problem I have reinstalled everything to do with audio and skype, but with no luck.
I was hoping someone else has had a similar experience or would have some insight on how to fix this issue.
EDIT:
and yes I have read the wiki and tried this but that didnt work either unfortunately.
EDIT2:
I left my computer for a small amount of time, less than 10 minutes, and when I came back audio was not working, with skype never being open. So the issue might not be only skype's fault but something else related to my sound setup.

Are you aware that Skype stopped supporting ALSA and now only works with PulseAudio?
Offline
Yes I am aware that Skype only supports pulse, I do have that installed and running, and up until yesterday it was working fine.
Because of the fact that it suddenly stopped working I am suspect to a package I either updated or removed causing the issue. So this is the relevant part of my pacman log, with the last things I did before having the audio stop working. I didn't notice the audio issue until after this final update, but I still suspect the two earlier ones.

pavucontrol showed me that that my hdmi output was overriding my headphones, and I was able to change the default back to what it should have been.
Thank you for your help V1del.
Do I need to make this as solved or close it or something now?

No problem, yeah prepend solved to the title of your initial post
