I have a samba share mounted like so:
sudo mount -t cifs //host/share /media/folder/ -o user=username,password=password,uid=1000,gid=100,cache=none,sec=ntlm"
When I cat a file on ie, the output of cat hangs at the end.
If I do cat -vet on the file I get something like this forever:
^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@
It will go forever. Years ago I switched over to NFS to fix something like this, but later I used samba again and it did not do this anymore.
Anyone know why it is doing this? I just replaced my nas, it is running samba 3 and this issue is popping up again.

I added nounix to my mount command and it is working now. Have to figure out why now.
The server is an OpenIndiana hipster NAS.
