When I halt my machine, I also get this:
::SYSTEM HALTED::
md: stopping all devices
md: devices stopped
What is md? Why is this happening?

If you in 2.4 then you have to switch off by hand....if you are in 2.6 & have acpi set then box will shutdown (off)

Yeah, it shuts down by itself, and it shutsdown properly. I'm just wondering what md is

software raid is part of the kernel, and parts of the kernel want to say you something, also if you dont need them :-)
