Some of the new icons I like. Some of them are hideous, like the new device notifier icon. I also noticed that the font rendering seems to have changed, not sure if it's Plasma or some other component, but I think I like it.
So i just downloaded and installed the "Breeze classic" theme from kde-looks.org but now switching back to the new Breeze theme has no effect at all. Anyone else having that issue? How do i get rid of manually installed themes?
If you installed it manually, you should know where you've put the files and would just have to delete them. Installing via the built-in theme downloader requires you to open it again, find the theme and click "uninstall".
I have another question, does anyone encounter similar minor cosmetic problem after opening and closing launcher? http://i64.tinypic.com/im2k4x.png
Update: Never mind, I fixed it by changing the animation speed to instant.
It's this bug, please post there that it's still happening, it's currently in limbo because I've only had it with KDE4 and it was EOL back when I reported it.

KDE Applications 15.12 Beta are already in kde-unstable. So, I think/hope Plasma 5.5 Beta will follow soon ;-)

Aside from some video driver-related issues (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=202377 seems close to what I've experienced), I'm really enjoying the newest update. Taskbar window highlighting change is much better than the previous bar above the text, and the updated icon theme/color is looking great.

Can you comment on stability? I promised myself not to upgrade to early this time but I can't really hold myself...

Just updated to both Plasma and KDE apps Beta, aside from Plasma on Wayland, everything's stable and working like a charm. Plasma on Wayland gets stuck at KSplash screen.

Hi,
I just upgraded my system to KDE Frameworks 5.16 and plasma 5.4.3 from the stable repos and now KDE ignores my default keymap settings (be it system or X11 ones - localectl is correctly set and ttys have the correct keymap), and the keyboard layout settings in systemsettings don't do anything. So now everytime after starting up I have to manually throw "setxkbmap fr" in a console.
Also the non-KDE systray icons aren't shown anymore (eg Skype, clementine, despite having (lib32-)sni-qt installed).
Does anyone else experience these issues or did I miss something ?

So, I decided to upgrade to the beta, and everything actually seems really good (no plasma/kwin crashes yet!), I did get one Kmix crash (didn't get the trace though), and I found one funky issue with konsole: it was set to the font Oxygen-mono, which I apparently don't have, any it caused it go a little funky. Changing the font seemed to fix it though.

The background of login screen is fine, but in the splash screeen is 4:3 instead of 16:9

@hifi25nl @Xabre: +1 for both issues.
As far as i can tell, these are the only issues i found in plasma 5.5 beta.

I had the issue with the missing systray icons. This did the trick for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comm … x_icon_in/
The icons are showing up with a not very good looking black background (or sometimes some other graphic), but at least they work.

Did somebody raised these tickets on the KDE bugtracer as of now?

I didn't. But a solution was already found by xabre for hifi25nl's issue: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p1580095.

I've seen the solution as well. The thing is that we should report this as soon as posible, so that the developers can look for a fix / integrate the solutions in time for the release.
I haven't found any ticket for those problems (I'm also affected by both). If I they are already raported I'll post the links to them.

Ah, thanks but I tried this aswell and it didn't work either.
Anyways eventually I added kde-unstable and upgraded to Plasma 5.5 and now my issues are solved.

nierro wrote:Has anyone found a way to bring back "Recent documents" in kickoff "chronology" tab?
They're useless since plasma 5.4: if clicked, nothing happens...I have the exactly opposite problem: in the history tab both recent applications and documents are shown, but I can clear only recent apps. Recent documents have to be cleared by manually deleting everything in ~/.local/share/RecentDocuments/
Is there a fix for this issue yet?

@gugah ; plasma 5.5 beta fixed that issue. So, wait for it to become stable or install it from kde-unstable!
