[SOLVED] postfix and sieve in database

Hi there,

I have been keeping adding entries to my sieve filter, and am having some trouble with roundcube being able to handle them. It seems when the list gets long that it times out on the save or something. So I was wondering if there would be an alternative like keeping the sieve filters in a database table instead of a text file in the email folder?
Then I could make my own interface for just the filter management.

Does perhaps another filtering system exist that can handle this?

I have the following packages installed:
Postfix 3.0.3-2
Postgrey 1.36-2
Pigeonhole 0.4.9-1
Pear-net-sieve 1.3.4-1
Dovecot 2.2.19-2

If additional information is needed please let me know.

imho it would be more time efficient to try to investigate the timeout problem than starting to port all your filters to some other delivery agent and write a web interface for it.

That's true, however I have no idea where to start the investigation. I have a feeling that the problem lies in the number of filters I have at the moment.
Is there another frontend that can be used to handle the pigeonhole sieve implementation? That way I could narrow down if the problem comes from roundcube or something else.

I tried using claws mail to handle the sieve, but that only works like a text editor. Might as well ssh to the box and change the text file directly. Which by the way works fine. Just not so comfortable as a gui smile

You could start to check the webservers logs for the failure time and check if you do in fact run into a time out with e.g. a web developers console in chrome.

Re: [SOLVED] postfix and sieve in database

It is the number of rules that I have in a single filter that gives me the problem. After removing 3(three) entries from the filter that was mis-behaving, I can change the rules again as I please.
So I just have to limit myself a little bit, and make more smaller filters instead of one big one.

Thanks for your help smile

If anyone has an idea how the filters could be saved in a database, I would still like to hear about it. It could be fun making a web frontend for it big_smile
