Every time new KDE version is released some crap breaks, and this time around they are supposedly "fixing" systray icons. When 5.4 came out I installed Gnome to try it out, now with 5.5 I think I might just have to switch. I really like KDE and that's why I keep sticking with them after myriad of problem, but general lack of focused direction and quality from KDE project is making me loose my faith in them.

Exactly how I feel. I always try to sugarcoat KDE, but this is just... disappointing in so many ways.

I have some strange issue with notifications, they appear both on left and right side.. is it a bug or something wrong with my configuration?

I had used the oxygen mono font in yakuake and after the plasma 5.5 update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3Z6ZPovK7o
With another monospace font it works.
So many issues...

It would be nice to understand why a computer that is rock stable running KDE4 has plasma instability and graphics issues once the same computer is upgraded to plasma. Presumably it is at least partly to do with the way kwin renders the screen but what is it that is different in kwin in plasma compared to kwin in KDE4 that exposes so many graphics issues particularly with Intel graphics? Are there calls in plasma kwin that were not used in KDE4? There have been statements that say plasma has exposed new bugs in Intel graphics drivers both in the mesa and xf86-video-intel packages - and that the graphics drivers still need fixing. Trouble is that if you are unlucky enough to have hardware that has the most problematic Intel graphics then there is no easy way to go back once the upgrade has been done to replace KDE4 with plasma, if it turns out that on a particular machine graphics issues are a major impediment to workflow!

Thanks for the link Loose_Control - hopefully these issues will slowly get resolved over time.

Is there any way to delay plasmashell on login? Since 5.5 I've had to kill it and restart it every time I sign in because it seems to be setting up before kscreen. I lose all my plasmoids, the panel goes on a random display, and the notifications are duplicated everywhere.
Also noticed that Breeze Dark has a blue box denoting the active window (and a drawn rectangle around the icon if its open) in icontasks that works on Intel but not on AMD mesa, any way to correct that?

Me too and this is the kind of annoying behavior that makes me feel like azzido, every update brings a number of regressions that makes KDE feel unpolished. Loving this DE is hard.

Hello!
I'm installing a batch of font's from nerd-fonts. I ran the command from the repo and installed from AUR. Yet, the fonts don't show up in the Fonts settings in Plasma. Some do, but not all. When I try to add them, it craps out because the path already exists. Am I missing something here? For example, Inconsolata only shows "Medium" and the Powerline variation. Not the Pomicons etc.

With regard to the notifications appearing left and right, I had this problem, but selecting to use a custom location in notifications settings seems to have solved the problem for me.

How do you select a custom notification ? I don't see that option in "Notifications" in Systemsettings.

So, does anyone know...
What's with the scroll speed in qt5 applications like dolphin? Why is it so slow?
Why does dolphin hang unresponsive for about 20-30 seconds when shift-deleting a file?

Please, try Logout/Login from DE and check if Yours notification settings is saved. For me not and I must set this every login.
Maybe similar bug is here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356461

The latest update to plasma-workspace (5.5.0-5) fixed the invisivle icons at system tray, but the ones regarding java apps (jdownloader and vuze) remain unresponsive. Nothing happens with left or right click whatsoever.
Offline
That's an icon that's not displayed properly. Open system tray settings and disable/enable entries till you find which one it is.
Offline
Yes but according to DrDeath, this is supposed to be fixed in latest plasma-workspace.
edit : the icon not appearing is plasma-pa (Audio volume). The other volume icon is kmix.

Can confirm, skype icon is visible now.

@Tromzy plasma-pa has that issue since forever. And plasma-pa systray icon is not a legacy icon, so mentioned fix is not there to fix it, only to fix legacy app icons.
I noticed on your screenshot that you have another volume icon, so I reckon you can disable plasma-pa till they fix it. It is very annoying.

This is from an overflowed list in Qt itself, and should be fixed in the next release. Heres the report.

For what it's worth about the skype icon.
The audio volume is kmix.
Vuze icon is smaller than it was but that's the least problem since it's not clickable.
