Where is the appropriate method to talk about testing package status?

I'm confused on how to help out on a 45 day lagging major testing package.  Tried making a post asking what blocking issues needed work on, and had my thread closed for acting like a newbie.  My intention isn't to be a nagging newbie asking for a new release, but to know what needs help as a tester/bug fixer.  Closing a thread linking to common problems saying it's ready when it's ready doesn't help with open contributions, when a package doesn't have bug reports in testing saying they're a release blocker, the package has been in testing for 45 days, and the bug report system says not to make bug reports about being outdated.

Please don't delete this thread.  I'm NOT asking when a package will move from testing to core.  I am instead asking how to help move a package from testing to core.
