Just a quick update, Fasheng (Deepin developer) managed to track down and fix the issue that prevented 'dde-daemon' from building on i686.
So, for those of you interested, DDE now builds and runs on i686 too. ;-) Enjoy.

Unfortunatelly my laptop doesn't really like it (everything feels slow, like in Gnome and "similar"), but at least I tried - it works now.

Nice to hear that it works. I know what you mean (feels slow). My lxqt-git with kwin just flys compared to DDE.

Any way to make it lock when screen turns off, e.g. to require password? I found similar option but it works only for suspend.
EDIT: I found bug report for that http://linuxdeepin.shendu.com/mantis/view.php?id=3969 and it says that it should work OOB. Should I rebuild packages?

Hi Goresome. You shouldn't have to rebuild any package that's in my OBS project page. Just re-download and reinstall should do it.
Source code is regularly pulled from Deepin gitcaffee page and OBS keeps the packages updated and rebuilds them regularly.
About that lock screen... I don't really know.

Don't even touch it with a ten foot pole... ;-) I just dumped some packages in there... stick with the stable branch and if by some miracle that -git branch becomes usable I'll post an update here.

the usage of metacity-ubuntu within deepin is kind of questionable especially within arch which likes vanilla packages

DDE requires older version of metacity which is long gone from arch repos and the simplest solution was to just use the updated package from 'unity-for-arch' project.
The upstream is already working on their own wm, based on gala which will replace compiz.

If using the new version of metacity Ubuntu is okay, so why do you use the old version

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not sure what exactly do you mean? Deepin compiz (their own forked compiz branch) requires older metacity (<3.0) which is not available in arch repos any more so I just took that pkgbuild.
I could add older vanilla arch metacity package and name it something like metacity2.34?

Hi,
First of all, Thanks for all the updates and the hardwork you've put in in making this accessible and installable.
I've installed and the setup works like a dream. However, my window decorations look very ugly. Ideally, I would like to replace them with a nice theme.
I found that gtk-engine-unico was no longer available in the community repo. Hence, built gtk-engine-unico-bzr.
I installed the numix-themes package then to alter my theme. But I still find that the window decoration remains the same.
My question is how do I change this theme ?
Everything else is pretty set as I want it.
Thanks
How I'm learning linux : If it ain't broken, fix it until it is. Then start over again.

You're welcome. I've imported gtk-engine-unico in arch-deepin repo btw...
I reinstalled DDE and started it with new user profile and I got the same decorations as you, but I can change the theme in the dde-control-center. Numix works, vertex for example also needs 'gnome-themes-standard' installed for adwaita engine, but it worked. For some reason default Deepin metacity theme won't apply... strange.
To change the theme use dde-control-center > personalization.

Hey SolarAquarion. Sorry for the late reply. I saw your report on github and I think Fasheng pretty much explained it all.
I've also added relevant info on starting DDE on Wiki page. Based on the screenshot you posted you tried to launch startdde directly instead?

I've also tried launching deepin via init/startx and it didn't work

Starting with 2016 the unofficial arch-deepin repository in my openSUSE build service is no longer available.
Migration path (from deepin 2014 to 2015) should be:
- remove arch-deepin repo from your pacman.conf
- upgrade/replace existing packages with the ones from 'community' repository
There might be some manual intervention involved.
Also, please report any bugs related to deepin over at https://github.com/fasheng/arch-deepin/issues
and issues related to archlinux packaging over at https://bugs.archlinux.org/.

I installed deepin and deepin-extra packages. However, I came across 2 issues. The first one is that I get no wallpaper. After some tinkering got it to show up on my second monitor, however if I click and drag with my mouse, on that screen I don't see the selected part rectangle. And If i press on launcher or shutdown I can see the blurred background image.
Also it seems that compositing is not on. I mean when when I press on control center in my dock, It appears on my second screen with wallpaper and there's a black line where the shadow is supposed to be I guess. The same with cairo dock (had it installed before and used when had mate installed), it autostarts and when it shows up, around it is black and it's the same like in mate if you have compositing disabled. In control center I didn't find any options to enable it and i try to use different compositor using replace option it gets terminated and switches back to default one.
Any way using compiz (at least it has a wallpaper option) or fixing these issues?
BTW, how to exit from control center without pressing on shut down?
Edit:
I am running dde using .xinitrc and starx as it is not recognized in GDM. I am using the same what was in the wiki page:
exec startdde

Ok, started up gdm and saw that deepin has appeared. Ran it. All problems solved. Great work for making this run on arch!

It looks like keyboard input selection doesn't really work. Let's say you switch from English to Lithuanian, it still writes using English layout instead of new one.

Hey thediamondgames. It's probably related to this issue.
Can't switch keyboard layout #177

Deepin looks really impressive, but I'm having quite some issues.
E.g. trying to configure the desktop corners will keep my CPU running at full speed for about a minute until the corner configuration shows up.
Trying to configure anything (=setting top left corner to Launcher, for example) will again make my PC hang for a while with my CPU sweating, and then nothing happens.
