netgear ac600 driver rtl8812au-dkms-git (aur) not functional [solved]

Greetings all,

Due to net 2.4Ghz network congestion, I find myself needing to go to 5.0Ghz for one of my laptops. The usb wifi adapter chosen was the dualband netgear ac600. Apparently something ath9k would've been a better option; however, I did not have that option at the time. The dualband netgear ac600 uses a driver known as “rtl8812au-dkms-git r47.2a9bbb7-1“ from the aur.

I installed the driver (no odd errors, relative to my limited aur experience) and attempted to follow the arch wiki wifi usb section sans a  positive result. lsusb shows that the device is connected, but the device is cold and non-functional.

I feel as though I am supposed to modprobe something. I did save a copy of the output of makepkg because I thought that it might prove to be relevant. I’ve not posted anything because I’ve not a clue as to the info one might need to help me solve this. I will of course posthaste post any output a respondent might deem necessary, provided that said output is not so systemd intensive as to be beyond me.
Thanks in advance,
z

Thanks for responding. The outputs are as follows: Below the ouputs I posted a pacman error (aptly entitled "pacman -U errors")  that I think is probably relevant to the problem.

Huh so the module is not even built. You need to install linux-headers first.

Nice!  I'd not seen that command before.  Thank you.
I shall tuck that away in my toolbox.

I must say thanks for the effective and expeditious help. I will mark this thread as solved since the wifi dual band usb adapter is now functional. Broaband speed test our normal. I've yet to try streaming which could in theory cause the usb device to overheat and not function and or suffer packet loss. I am curious though. If I read the aur correctly, should not pacman have pulled in all needed dependencies? in this case, it did not.

The final solution seems to be install the linux-headers then install the driver from the AUR in accordance with aur install instructions. Would you agree?

Thank you again for your help.

It's an optdep of dkms:
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/dkms/
Reason is not everyone uses the repo kernel.
