Auth. error over 802.11g - Successful but slow connection over 802.11b

Hello everyone,
I have an ASUS X50GL with Atheros ath9k. I have configured the wireless network according to the card/driver specific instructions in the wiki. I connect to the router via wpa2 authentication. I had a lot of disconnections when I was using 802.11 bgn (300 Mbps). I called my ISP and they told me I have to use 802.11 bg (54 Mbps). I used it for one day and then on the next day I am getting the authentication error although I am sure I am typing in the correct password (connecting failed via wifi-menu). I haven't found any appropriate solution so far in the internet. I have started playing and switched the router to 802.11 b (11 Mbps). It worked...But the connection is really very slow.

Does anybody understand what is the problem? I have also searched the Arch forum for a while but with no success.

Was there any relevant that was updated in the last few days and causes a problem?

I appreciate any help...
