[SOLVED] glibc 2.23 and openconnect - getaddrinfo failure

I have an openconnect problem from months now (perhaps since glibc got updated from 2.22 to 2.23).
openconnect can no longer resolve the hostnames for my juniper VPNs and the usual host and ping work.
In this screenshot I have an old arch VM with glibc 22 and on the host I have arch with glibc 2.23:

I also tried asking in #glibc in freenode and they told me to take it up with the #openconnect guys.
So I wrote in the mailing list here which so far has no response:

Any ideas what might be the problem?
I was suggested to disable IPv6. Tried it, it didn't work so that's out of the picture.

Solved it myself.
Turns out that having $https_proxy / $http_proxy set will cause this.
Making as [SOLVED].
