personal firewall

I installed kmyfirewall but it caused kdm to hang on login so I had to remove it. I wanted to try firestarter but it wants to install 60 MB of gnome dependencies that I don't really need.
Is there another choice for a easy to configure alternative ( or perhaps a way to fix kmyfirewall from hanging kdm)?

[edit] as a kde user you also might want to check on guarddog, which is in community

Guarddog is pretty good and is very easy to configure.

I have Shorewall and it works fine (from AUR)
