Has any gotten the cyrus sasl package to authenticate via courier authdaemond? We have postfix + courier-imap setup to authenticate against LDAP (all works so far). The last piece is to enable postfix to do smtp auth against LDAP. I figured the easiest way would be to have cyrus sasl talk to authdaemond (since it already talks to ldap) - but I could be wrong...
I've tried several things and can't seem to get it to work.
I have added the following to the PKGBUILD
./configure <snip> --with-authdaemond=/var/spool/authdaemon/socket
I have modified /user/lib/sasl2/smtp.conf
pwcheck_method: authdaemond
mech_list: plain login
log_level: 7
authdaemond_path: /var/spool/authdaemon/socket
I left /etc/conf.d/saslauthd alone
SASLAUTHD_OPTS="-m /var/state/saslauthd -a pam"
When I start /etc/rc.d/saslauthd and use the cyrus test tool it authenticates against pam. So obviously I need to change the -a to a different mechanism - but what? I've tried several other but no luck.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

nevermind.....
It turns out I can't use the testsasl tool. Instead when I configure postfix to use sasl it works.
Also, turned off saslauthd daemon as it is not needed by postfix....
