and after 4.5.3 my hardware acceleration is not working anymore (with or without the suggested kernel parameters)
glxgears
[1] 4298 illegal hardware instruction (core dumped) glxgears
(was working before)
any suggestion on this side?

As promised, I have tested my DA200 (Rev A00) adaptor. It works really well. Hot pluggable and stable. USB and Ethernet are immediately recognised and enabled. Ethernet interface comes under 'enp57s0u1u4' for me. Gnome works really nicely with the secondary display ports as well. Recognised the HDMI monitor on plug-in and I have the option to configure as secondary, mirror, only, disabled. Could not test the VGA as I do not have a cable on hand, but I presume that would also work fine.

Suspend XPS13 while connected to external monitor.

... on 4.6 I'm getting a hang on the final step (using a different USB 3.1 DisplayPort device). Only if reconnecting after waking from sleep though, everything else about displayport hotplug & sleep seems solid now.

I was not able to get the HDMI output to work connected to a TV via xrandr. I don't have any monitor that I can test the HDMI with. Were you on battery when testing ?

Concerning the freeze with psr & xfce, I use OpenBox and I have no problem. Chromium is running with those options :

those params are battery hungry because of that im setting psr=0 and removing chromium params leads to less battery drain

thanks for your response, I solved the issue, I played too much with kernel parameters and xorg parameters trying to solve my system hangs and I forgot the 'Option "DRI" "false"' in my xorg configuration so HA was not active, without this parameters now I can have opengl and glxgears working again...

Anyone who has good working configuration without this option but with psr & fbc off?
With this configuration I still got blur in firefox when I scroll (the text sometimes remains impossible to read), I don't know if it would reduce the system freeze will see in couple of hours...

Try firefox with the smooth scroll turned off in preference -> advanced

Just tested. I am able to reconnect fine. It doesn't matter if it's before, after or during sleep. Connected displays (devices) are identified and configured on the fly with no issue. All works really well. Not sure what device you are using, but maybe there is something wrong with resolution/framerate config on your side. See if the adaptor you are using (or the cable) is not rated for something and that's why it's failing. My HDMI 2.0 is arriving tomorrow and I'll update with more info on HiDPI and high refresh rate through the adaptor.

Just tested. I am able to reconnect fine. It doesn't matter if it's before, after or during sleep. Connected displays (devices) are identified and configured on the fly with no issue. You should really do a longer time average, at least half an hour. But yes, idle power consumption would go as low as 4-6W if all powersaving options were working.

After testing i915.enable_fbc=0 i915.enable_psr=0 I can confirm I reduced (not = 0) the number of system freeze.
Any idea if on 4.6 psr and fbc is working better? (I just upgrade to 4.6 but still with psr and fbc 0)

You cannot yet enable both but on 4.6 you should be able to enable pdr and rc6, IIRC. There are some news about that on Phoronix, you can search there (or just try!).

4.5 was a huge step back in power saving on Skylake, 4.6 brings it back almost to the good 4.4 levels on most systems. Let's hope 4.7 will be even better.

No idea if it is related but I realized that after kernel 4.6 my libinput is working much better (touchpad gesture, particulary the speed for swipe left/right)

EDIT: I have done a full day test on 4.6 with psr and fbc actived and everything is working well

Not sure if this has been discussed here before, but it is quite easy to increase the timeout of the keyboard illumination. It was driving me crazy

Install the libsmbios package, then:

To get current status:

smbios-keyboard-ctl --get-status

To get capabilities:

smbios-keyboard-ctl -i

To set illumination timeout to 30 minutes:

smbios-keyboard-ctl --set-timeout 30m
