Hello Guys ,
I am using Arch Linux for the first time. I have been an active user of other distros. This time, I would like to try Arch on my laptop. The trouble I am facing with it is Network Manager not detecting/scan WiFi connections. On the other hand, It easily detects the wired connection and no issue with it.
Here is the screenshot showing `wifi-menu` which does find the WiFi >> http://imgur.com/DMmZInH (SSID of my WiFi connection is 'jesus')
Command run
~ » sudo wifi-menu -o
Scanning for networks...
But it won't connect and throws the following error.
Job for netctl@wifi\x2djesus.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status "netctl@wifi\\x2djesus.service"" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
Network Manager finds only the Wired connection, not Wireless. Can we get Network Manager to handle both on my system? it is supposed to be right?.
I am not sure why is it not finding WiFi but wifi-menu does at the same time(but won't connect).
Here is the screenshot showing "Network Manager finds only Wired Connection but not active WiFi broadcast from Modem" >> http://imgur.com/TybsgVN

If you want to use NetworkManager then disable all those netctl profiles.
You should only have *one* networking service active per interface.
Use this command to check which services have been enabled on your system:
systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled

Yeah, netctl service is completely turned off on my laptop. See:
~ » systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled
UNIT FILE STATE
autovt@.service enabled
dbus-fi.epitest.hostap.WPASupplicant.service enabled
dbus-org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.service enabled
dbus-org.freedesktop.nm-dispatcher.service enabled
display-manager.service enabled
getty@.service enabled
lightdm.service enabled
NetworkManager-dispatcher.service enabled
NetworkManager.service enabled
systemd-timesyncd.service enabled
teamviewerd.service enabled
wpa_supplicant.service enabled
remote-fs.target enabled
13 unit files listed.
If you want to use NetworkManager then disable all those netctl profiles.
You should only have *one* networking service active per interface.

What is the output of:
# iw dev wlp7s0 scan
You may have to bring the interface up first with `ip link set wlp7s0 up`

In the above scan result, I can see "WPS:" portion showing is my WiFi Modem Info, but I wonder why Network Manager is not catching it.
What is the output of:
# iw dev wlp7s0 scan
You may have to bring the interface up first with `ip link set wlp7s0 up`

Okay, the good news is that your wireless network is working and can see local access points.
How are you trying to control NetworkManager? In other words, what front end tool are you using? nm-applet? nmcli? nmtui? The built-in cruft in Gnome?
Hint: wifi-menu is NOT a front end for NetworkManager. Stop using it. It is only for Netctl.
Have you read and worked your way through this : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NetworkManager ?
Can you please post the output of systemctl status --no-pager ?

Thank you so much, your question shed some light on it really
I am using Arch Linux with KDE Plasma as the desktop environment, on the front end, I am seeing it is "nm-connection-editor" and it was my WiFi device showing turned off in it. It's a thin blue radio like button with no description around it, so our eyes won't catch it easily. I went ahead and clicked on it and suddenly WiFi became active now.
That solved it . WiFi works like a charm now.
If you have the right privilege on this forum, please mark this as resolved thread

Cool. We actually ask that you mark threads as SOLVED as (generally) the person opening the thread is the only one who can actually determine that state
Just edit your first post in the thread and there is an option to edit the thread title. Just prepend [SOLVED] to the title and save.
