Can someone clarify if taskbar mess i am having is plasma problem or my local problem? Please see this:
Desktop themes from left to right: Air, breeze light, breeze, breeze dark, breeze dark classic (5.4 look)
As you can see breeze and breeze dark are complete mess. Does that happen to anyone else? I see kde videos advertising new plasma versions have taskbar that looks like last image (breeze dark classic 5.4 look). Any idea what end i could pull to slap taskbar into correct shape?

Maybe deleting ~/.cache helps?

When I clicked on the background my windows disappear until I click on their icons on my dock. Anyone else having this issue? It doesn't happen to dialog boxes, so it almost seems like some sort of feature but I didn't enable it and I can't find anything promising in the settings.

Updated to 5.6.5 just now (thought 5.7 was already in stable) and some of my icons broke. Chromium uses it's default hicolor icon and krdc is completely missing the icon. Tried clearing *.kcache, but no change. Changing icon theme from breeze to oxygen "fixes" the icons, but changing back to breeze breaks them again. Anyone idea what else to try to fix this?

so stable arch just got 5.7 and its pretty nice. started it in wayland for the hell of it and im still in wayland (that would last about 10s before everything goes sideway in 5.6). such a massive improvement over 5.6 wayland support. everything feels just like Xorg ;-)

I read in a couple of posts regarding the release of Plasma 5.7 that the new unified login and splash screen will come with this version. However I can't seem to find anything new here (maybe I'm missing some newly introduced package).
Does anyone know anything about this?

@Caspian - It's revert from 5.7. It was only in 5.6.95. See: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364577

@pb: Thought as much. Thanks for pointing that out.
While I'm "here" I have another question : since as long as I can remember I had extremely slow shutdown/restart from Plasma. It can take up to 10-15 seconds before the plasma session exits and system shuts down (Gnome, for example, exits in about 1 seconds). Is anyone else experiencing this? I have a fresh install of Plasma 5.7 and all of the old configuration files were deleted prior to installation.

@Caspian Try using lightdm instead of sddm, and see if problem disappears. I often have the same problem when trying to reboot the system, where with sddm it seems that logind gets stuck while "trying to shut down session C0" or something similar.

@Xabre: Thanks for the help. I've tried lightdm as well and this doesn't help. I don't think that the issue is in display manager. It seems to me like plasma session takes some time to exit. After the blur effect which happens on any leave option it takes some time for plasma to exit.
I also have the issue where panel placement and try settings are not remembered after a reboot. I set to have panel on my external display connected by HDMI (this display is marked as primary) and I set dropbox entry in tray as hidden. After the restart panel is always on the laptop screen and dropbox icon is shown in the tray.

So in 5.7 the panel icons in the new system tray are fairly tiny, how do you make them larger, or simply restore them to the 5.6 size? Widening the panel just adds more rows rather than having the icons increase in size.

Will be fixed in 5.7.1

We have a lot threads about this on forum. It seems that isn't plasma related and related to systemd. It should be changed in systemd 230, but...
Ok. There is a workaround - edit /etc/system.d/system and change X in:
[...]
DefaultTimeoutStopSec=X
[...]
to something.

...why do I have to suddenly install networkmanager to be able to suspend my PC (aka it being a dependency for powerdevil)? I thought the goal of plasma was to reduce the dependencies, not increase them?
edit: found this thread after posting this

Hi, anyone else having this?
After updating to 5.7 icons beside window description, at least for dolphin and konsole are gone.
I've changed to another theme but still no icons.

Deleting the files in the .cache folder used to solve these icon problems.

I don't have these issues with any of the tested apps, so it must be something related to the configuration/cache on your side.

It's not cache, there's an update for kiconthemes in testing with a fix for missing icons. I spent quite a while figuring out why Clementine tray icon is suddenly missing. That solved it.

Thanks Xabre. Installing kiconthemes from testing (5.24.0-2) fixed it.

I noticed the calendar events have returned to the clock widget, any idea why it's not syncing to korganizer?

Hello,
plasma 5.7.1 has been released, I did the upgrade, but now I notice that the icons in system tray are too big :
( air theme )
( breeze theme )
in earlier versions of plasma ( 5.5, 5.6 ) these icons were much smaller :
Do you know a solution for setting a custom size for these icons in system tray ?
thanks
