[SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

My Wi-Fi connection is highly unreliable. Sometimes it works for a few minutes before it drops, sometimes only a few seconds. Once the connection drops, I cannot do anything to get a working wireless again, except restarting the router. I know this seems to point on a faulty router, but other devices just work fine when connected to the router. I don't know how exactly to tackle this problem. Here's some more information:

dmesg (note that the connection dropped between 12s and 99s after restart):

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

What is your hardware? Have you checked https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … d_firmware?

Check the output of `iwconfig` and if power management is on then try  disabling it with:

# iw dev wlo1 set power_save off

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

Been away all day -- sorry.  That find output looks rational.  So much for the easy solution sad

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

Hey all, thanks for the help!

That's my network card:

$ lspci -k | grep -A 3 'Network'
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev 73)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-N 7260
	Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
	Kernel modules: iwlwifi

Funny thing is, I'm on a network right now that runs super fast and smooth. Other networks give me a lot of trouble, i.e. don't work at all. It's a little bit difficult to debug like that. nmcli shows that I'm on channel 44 right now, so maybe it has something to do with that. I try to figure out if maybe the Wifi that work badly for me have interference?

Check the output of `iwconfig` and if power management is on then try  disabling it with:

# iw dev wlo1 set power_save off

This hasn't improved my Wifi problems, as far as I can tell. But thanks for the suggestion.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

So have you tried the iwlwifi suggestions on the ArchWiki wireless page?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … on#iwlwifi

Some more suggestions here from forums.debian.net (the module parameters are distribution-agnostic):
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=121696

fdn seems to be down at the moment but I'm sure somebody will come and give the server a kick shortly -- it can be like the Marie Mary Celeste over there sometimes...
lol

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

Crazy idea, have you tried moving further away from the access point? At least until you see the "Link Quality" value drop a little bit.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless highly unreliable

I tried your suggestions, but nothing really worked. However, I changed the channel number and it seems to be better. Basically I was following these instructions here:

http://www.howtogeek.com/197268/how-to- … ng-system/

I'm not sure how much better it is, since it can come and go.

I mark this as solved for now. Thanks for all the help!
