Recently, package 'gsfonts' was upgraded 20150811-1 -> 20160531-3.
Then some old applications (e.g. 'xfontsel', 'tgif') can't find these fonts.
In old gsfonts package, font files are *.pfb and placed in /usr/share/fonts/Type1
In new gsfonts package, font files are *.otf and placed in /usr/share/fonts/OTF
How can I use these fonts?

This upgrade was pretty annoying - Nimbus is rendered terribly for example.
here is my /etc/fonts/conf.d directory:
$ ls /etc/fonts/conf.d/
10-hinting-full.conf 49-sansserif.conf
10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf 50-user.conf
20-unhint-small-dejavu-sans.conf 51-local.conf
20-unhint-small-dejavu-sans-mono.conf 60-latin.conf
20-unhint-small-dejavu-serif.conf 65-fonts-persian.conf
20-unhint-small-vera.conf 65-nonlatin.conf
30-metric-aliases.conf 69-unifont.conf
30-urw-aliases.conf 80-delicious.conf
40-nonlatin.conf 90-synthetic.conf
45-latin.conf README

Fundamental Axiom of the Universe (aka Murphy's Law): Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.
First Digital Deduction: Nothing obeys Murphy's Law so well as computers.
Second Digital Deduction: Everything go wrong at least once.
Third Digital Deduction: Things go wrong even when there's absolutely no possibility of anything go wrong.

Yes, fontconfig recognizes these new gsfonts.
But xfontsel and tgif are legacy applications, and they
don't use fontconfig system.
xlsfonts displays new gsfonts, but xfontsel can not select them.
