USB 2.0 in arch2.4.25

Gents;

Would be pleased to know if anyone has had USB 2.0 performance from a usb-storage device in arch.

Comments from googling indicate it is experimental and may not perform.

If someone has it going, what transfer speed is obtained?

Typically, ehci-hcd is utilized...in my system it appears as "unused".

Hi

I am having trouble with USB 2.0 as well (ehci) ...pacman -S usbview & take a look....I am using 2.6.3 though ....

I have read about USB 2.0 it seems in later 2.4 & 2.6 there is some support ...but what does that mean

Anyway I will keep us posted if I have any luck.....

Thanks for reply. I have an asus a7v333 mobo with 2.0 built-in and have yet to get it to run at 2.0 speed.

An article dated Feb 2004 is provided at www.linux-usb.org/devices.html which is quite extensive in its details. If you haven't googled it I recommend it for background and up-to-date info.

I wish you success with 2.0 soon!!!

Have downloaded ...usbview....hotplug......usbutils....

Find...../sbin/hotplug....../etc/hotplug.d.....

What more is needed? Is there a setup or config required for USB 2.0?

usbutils is in the current repo too i think.i

Obviously the two pkgs I listed were not included in the original download.

I have googled and determined that I need uhci-hcd ohci-hcd ehci-hcd ohci and uhci ehci-hcd modules in arch.

I have listed these as alias entries in /etc/modules.conf and in the modules= category of /etc/rc.conf.

Googling reveals that lsmod shows the loaded modules. My lsmod does not show but just ehci-hcd. Googling reveals that at least one (if not more) of the others is needed along with ehci-hcd.

Perhaps googling reveals info that doesn't apply to arch?

It looks like the system addresses ehci-hcd but then leaves it.

Loaded kernel2.6.3-1 and have yet to get USB 2.0 to run.

Kernel boots and /proc/bus/usb lists devices ok but no drivers..
