Hello,
I have a three disk raid5 array (3 x 4TB drives), and I'm adding a fourth drive to it. I've been looking at BTRFS and I think I'd like to convert the system to use it. I'd like to continue using mdadm instead of the native raid support in btrfs, mostly because I can't easily transfer the stored data off the array and then back onto it, but also because I use luks disk encryption.
My setup looks like this:
mdadm array of 4 disks -> luks disk encryption on the array device -> lvm -> ext3 filesystem
My question is: do I need to calculate and specify stride and stripe data for btrfs in this situation, or will the filesystem handle it? If I do need to, how do I go about it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
