kworker processes

Hey there,
simple question: how does it come that i have over 70 kworker threads after suspending and whats their task? i mean, i can imagine what these threads do, but why are there so many of them?

top says:
kworker/u17:2
kworker... etc.

some of them have a nice value of -20 some have 0. is it an option to simply kill them?

ps. i can totally understand if you need more information, just ask for it.

Re: kworker processes

i alreade read the first and second of these links, the third is not helping me either.

i want to know why they exist after suspending and in this amount.
before suspending i had something like 5 kworkers.
i know what theyre made for, i know i shouldnt kill them simply, i know its kernel related stuff, but i dont get why the kthreadd starts over 70 to suspend.

Edit: its not a problem for me, i simply wanna know because im interested in these low level things. so if you have some cool lecture that would be awesome (lecture directly related to the situation described above.)
