I noticed there are quite a lot of packages using Rust's Cargo incorrectly; so I've documented proper usage on the wiki. Anyone want to review and possibly extend this?

The entry was out of scope for the makepkg article, which is about particular usage on makepkg itself. Please move the content to the appropriate packaging page:

Maybe the content can be moved to the specific language pages; but shouldn't the package guidelines include a reference to them as well?

makepkg related articles has "Creating packages" .
Point "7 More detailed guidelines" on that page has links to many specific package types (there are even a few listed i didn't know we had, like the nonfree one)
