Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

@odin,im on my phone so I'll be brief.
Here's a good place to start reading https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=w … 3yu6EkslRg

Then just google around for more specific details.  Simply put, you don't need the package xf86 video Intel to utilize the Intel driver. It is already in the kernel.

I am on the 8g ram and I don't suspend to disk. However, I do notice that my cached/used ram was spiking.  My swap file onlygets used about 12M to 100M.

Either way, these two changes brought stability or at least no more hangs and freezes for some unknown change. Also these might not help you the same as I don't have a xps 15 and an nvidia card to deal with. *shrug

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

So I woke my xps13 9350 from suspend today and my touchpad stopped working. It was working fine before I closed the lid. Here's the stuff I've tried so far:

1. Updated my kernel to the latest stable version (4.7.5-1-ARCH) and rebooted but still nothing.
2. Went to the BIOS screen and the pointer works fine there. I re-enabled the touchscreen and that works fine too.
3. I ran `libinput-debug-events --verbose` and it seems that the touchpad isn't even being listed: https://yadi.sk/i/DXBDaJV6vra9P
4. My journalctl output does show something about synaptics not being initialized, but I don't think that's related since I don't even have the synaptics driver installed: https://yadi.sk/i/Y1XTyzrgvrbLB

I would really appreciate some help with this, since I'm currently stuck at work with no access to an external mouse and the touchscreen isn't helping out a whole lot.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

Hi guys, my wifi (Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4350 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 08))
not work anymore. Seems it won't load the firmware. It used to work but have been gone broken out of the blue.
Have no glue how to solve this. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

Hey amatika, is the card showing up when you do an lscpi?
In my case I get "3a:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM4350 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 08)"

It happened to me a while ago that my card wouldn't even show up at lspci and the only way I managed to get that fixed was firware upgrade. It happened out of the blue as well sad

If it shows up in lspci make sure the fw is ok, I don't know which binary is it, so just in case:

[david@linux ~]$ sha1sum /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4350-pcie.bin
bdf3e60b95433d977e051ddd77756847e197631d /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4350-pcie.bin
[david@linux ~]$ sha1sum /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4350c2-pcie.bin
d5716f198225036973acc8d02bf381db484694e3 /usr/lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4350c2-pcie.bin

Hope it helps!

It should be ibt-11-5.sfi (and the corresponding ddc file).

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

@davidgf Thanks for reply.

I cloned the last files from here git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git
Copied brcmfmac4350c2-pcie.bin and brcmfmac4350-pcie.bin into /usr/lib/firmware/brcm

Unfortunately the problem still persist.

Interestingly the error log still reports the same firmware version even after the update.

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

It sounds you got in touche with the new "random mac address scan feature" introduced in NetworkManager 1.4.
Have a look at XPS 15 thread.
You can disable the option in nm conf file or disable your AP mac filter.

If it is not helpful please open a new thread and post full logs and all relevant conf files.

Haha.  In my family, my hand-me-downs go to wife.  Wife's hand-me-down goes to my mum.  It just works™
Wife is happy as long as she has an iphone and any computer that can do photoshop/video editing (she is into social media).  Mum is happy as long as her photos and music can be accessed. Everyone profits! smile

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

Hey jewetux,

I do have all the services and kernel modules it's a FW issue. I do have /lib/firmware/intel/ibt-11-5.sfi and /lib/firmware/intel/ibt-11-5.ddc
Strangely dmesg keeps saying:

[   14.037638] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for intel/ibt-11-4.sfi failed with error -2

He's looking for a wrong version of it! Any idea on how to fix it or where it is picking the version from?
Thanks man!

Edit: anyone with a 8260 can please grep dmesg for "Device revision is" ? I got a 4 there but it seems you guys have revision 5? Thanks again!

I have the developers edition.

Did you check dmesg or lspci? Because for me the output is different!?

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

Ok cool, I contacted someone at Intel, and it seems I've got a very weird wireless board. The guy seem puzzled for me to have that.
I'm pretty sure I have a testing module of some sort. I'll try to ping people there just out of curiosity, since I used to work there.
And no, the firmware for revision 5 doenst work on rev4 although wireless works just great!

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

Can someone run "hcitool cmd 3f 05" and paste his/her log?
And/or run btmon as root and reset your BT card like this:
echo 0 > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/1-3/authorized
echo 1 > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/1-3/authorized

Make sure to use the right BT USB port (mine is 1-3) big_smile

Re: Dell XPS 13 9350 Late 2015

Hey guys! I'm having a problem with a USB type c hub that I purchased. I purchased the one someone mention earlier in this thread https://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Unive … +usb+c+hub. It will power my laptop, add multiple usb ports, and work as headphone output just fine, but I cant seem to get it to work with my external display. This is my output of xrandr:

eDP-1 connected primary 3200x1800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 294mm x 165mm

HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I've tried to use

xrandr --output eDP-1 --auto --output HDMI-1 --auto --right-of HDMI-1

and

xrandr --output eDP-1 --auto --output HDMI-2 --auto --right-of HDMI-2

, but neither are working.
This is my output of

get-edid

This is read-edid version 3.0.2. Prepare for some fun.
Attempting to use i2c interface
Looks like no busses have an EDID. Sorry!
Attempting to use the classical VBE interface
Illegal instruction

Any ideas?
