I'm working on a school project together with two mates. We're using IntelliJ IDEA and its builtin CVS support.
The CVS part is working well, except that I accidentally included too many files: some files in the / of the project are CVS'es aswell but shouldn't be. I can't for the love of god get rid of them though.
I've tried removing them with "cvs remove file1" but that didn't work out: CVS complained about the files still existing. What I'd like to do know is get rid of the CVS dir on the server. But only the one for the school project, I've got some other project on there aswell but I'd like to keep those.
Could anyone please tell me how to do that?

Before running 'cvs remove file1', delete the file first. That will remove the file from cvs. As for directories, you can't remove them fron cvs.

I set up an SVN server using the Wiki. It's working wonderfully well!
