I am having issues with NetworkManager > 1.2.x. and wireless/wired connections.
I'm not able to see the status in Plasma's network manager of any kind of connection.

Now the latest networkmanager 1.4.1dev+33+gc87b89b-1 does work for me. Additionally just fyi, I had never modified my NetworkManager.conf file.

Hm for me this is still not working. I am running networkmanager-git (V1.5.1) and it seems to still be broken. After bootup I have to restart NM to get a connection. The logs for a full boot with manual restart look like this:

My config looks like this:
[main]
plugins=keyfile
dns=default
[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no
## Set static hostname
#[keyfile]
#hostname=foobar
## HTTP-based connectivity check
#[connectivity]
#uri=http://nmcheck.gnome.org/check_network_status.txt
Could anyone help me with that? Maybe it's related to the device renaming?

Anyone having an older device where driver is not capable of mac spoofing (check 'journalctl') can disable that new behavior (v1.4.0+) by placing the file below. This should help prevent downgrading NetworkManager 1.4.1dev33->1.2.5.
/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/30-mac-randomization.conf
[device-mac-randomization]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no
[connection-mac-randomization]
ethernet.cloned-mac-address=preserve
wifi.cloned-mac-address=preserve

Then restart NetworkManager:
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager.service
Optional:
If you're using 'dnsmasq' you can add another file (instead of modifying global 'NetworkManager.conf' like stated in the wiki):
/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/30-dnsmasq.conf
[main]
dns=dnsmasq
Restart NetworkManager and check if dnsmasq is active (cat /etc/resolv.conf). Should point to 127.0.0.1.

[device-mac-randomization] wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no [connection-mac-randomization] ethernet.cloned-mac-address=preserve wifi.cloned-mac-address=preserve

Unfortunately this stopped working for me around the same time, but I was too busy to fix this.
This bug has rendered Network Manager Applet useless.
Wired connection was fine, but list of access point became blank.
Funnily it was auto connecting ok to old SSIDs, but giving me no management capabilities.
Sys tray icon has also stopped showing anything useful, always displaying as disconnected or if on wifi, all wifi signal strength bars empty indicating no reception.
I have switched to WiCD, I was tired of this witch hunt.

Since Network Manager is now on version 1.4.2, and OP seemingly abandoned the thread after the first post, I'm going to close this topic to prevent further empty posts showing up every few weeks.
Closing.
