Hi,
my laptop comes with 2 disks. One 32Gb m2 SSD and a 500Gb SATA HDD.
I've been using the 32Gb one as my / and the other one for /home.
Now I'm thinking of replacing the HDD by a SSD.
Would be worthy to keep using the 32Gb m2 SSD for caching porpoises?
EDIT: (assuming they would have the same performance)
Thanks!
Daniel.

Probably more trouble than it's worth...

Why do you think so? Any previous experience?
Thanks!

You can get a performance boost without spending any money by relocating /home to the SSD and just using the HD for media files.
...for caching porpoises?
How many have you got?

I'm afraid you misunderstood me.
My idea is replacing the HDD by a new SSD while keeping the m2 as a cache.
Thanks!

Probably because your new ssd will be faster than the M.2 one so you would gain nothing.

M2 SSD are at least as twice as expensive as SATA ones.
Also SSDs are supposed to use less power than HDDs. Even if the difference is not that big, this is always something good regarding I'm talking about a laptop.

Samsung 850 is about the same price in m.2 as 2.5" sata. Same goes for several other models.
