Aiptek tablet crashing X

I have an Adesso drawing tablet (which is a rebranded Aiptek tablet). When I bring the pen near the tablet, X crashes, I see the init screen for a second, then the desktop manager starts, and I go back to the log in screen. This has been happening since last Friday, and before that the tablet worked fine.

My video card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960, I'm using the proprietary Nvidia driver v375.26.
