Hello,
Following the wiki, I set up Samba for usershare.
All works good: I can give access to a usershare folder via Kde in /tmp for example
Give read only or write access etc.
I read the warning:
Note: Make sure the guest also has permission to visit /path, /path/to and /path/to/public, according to http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions … bdirectory
So I wonder what the best way to share files that lie in the user folder with other users is ?
- Since one does not want to give the x access write to local users, the subfolder to share via usershare will never be accessible.
- Some distributions seem to have a Public folder at the root of their home. Making a link from there should not matter since the destination writes only are taken into account.
And a Public subfolder in home should not be accessible if one does not have x.
All this seem quite heavy to set up: usershares are there to ease sharing a folder, so if one has to create it somewhere else out of his home, it takes the advantage away.
Am I missing something ?
(not for lack of looking around, but no other distro that Arch runs on my laptop to check what others really implement).
Thanks in advance
