Thinkpad R61 shows lines of colors/glitch in grub

I have an issue with grub when booting an Arch based distro.
The image bellow show how the screen looks when grub loads. This seem to happen only on arch distros. (Oh I remember the same happened when I tried booting a GhostBSD Live cd. Same glitches but with the BSD loader.)
I installed Manjaro on another computer as a last resort and put the disk into the R61 to see if a successful install would do the same and it does. The system boots after a few seconds so its not stuck in grub.

Any suggestions what I can do do?
Could it be related to the old Intel 965M chipset?

Other than your image is too obscured to be of any use to anyone trying to help you, are you using Arch Linux? These boards are for the support of Arch Linux only. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=130309

This means we do not support any "Arch based distro" other than Arch itself, as installed per the Arch Installation Guide https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installation_guide

As for your chipset? Maybe. Maybe not. How are we to tell with the information supplied?

Regards
