Is it possible to add extra field to PDU?

Hi guys, Im worfking on video networking project, we need to protect our video streams with auth token, the network already has many nodes so I would like to integrate this auth into the lowest OSI level, we use sdi over fiber extenders (but only for ethernet channel for my application). So what is the lowest level which I can access and protect PDUs? I thought maybe I could add my own field which will carry token or its absurd Thank you!
