I have a brother printer DCP-J105
I have tried everything and cannot print.
I am using cups to add the printer.
The default driver that was available with cups does not work. When selecting it, it says unable to copy ppd file.
When going onto brother's website, I find two drivers, one is a deb file and the other is an rpm file. I have extracted both of them seperately and provided the ppd that was in each of them as a driver to use and each time I get similar results.
I have tried printing via usb cable, wifi, ipp, http, appSocket and nothing works.
I can add the printer, however, as soon as I tried to print, the job dissapears and nothing prints.
I have also had it get to a point where the printer shows "Receiving data" but nothing prints and no error message is shown.
I am giving up
My friend runs ubuntu and he can print to the printer.
I have also install the following packages from the aur, however it does not seem to do anything at all :
brother-dcpj105
brother-cups-wrapper-common
I am adding my cups error log here http://pastebin.com/c6uvGmDK.
Please help me

Dear Sir, I've a similar problem with a Brother MFC-J6510DW.
In mine the driver exists on AUR (and seems to works for the others). The print is sent, as it list in the completed job, and in the logs present in /var/log/cups/access_log it says:
localhost - - [24/Mar/2017:19:15:56 +0100] "POST /printers/Brother_MFC-J6510DW HTTP/1.1" 200 228 Create-Job successful-ok
localhost - - [24/Mar/2017:19:15:56 +0100] "POST /printers/Brother_MFC-J6510DW HTTP/1.1" 200 282 Send-Document successful-ok
localhost - - [24/Mar/2017:20:26:52 +0100] "POST /printers/Brother_MFC-J6510DW HTTP/1.1" 200 233 Create-Job successful-ok
localhost - - [24/Mar/2017:20:26:52 +0100] "POST /printers/Brother_MFC-J6510DW HTTP/1.1" 200 287 Send-Document successful-ok
localhost - - [24/Mar/2017:20:27:00 +0100] "POST /printers/Brother_MFC-J6510DW HTTP/1.1" 200 233 Create-Job successful-ok
localhost - - [24/Mar/2017:20:27:00 +0100] "POST /printers/Brother_MFC-J6510DW HTTP/1.1" 200 287 Send-Document successful-ok
When I print the Self test page oncups Interface, The printer displays the message "Receiving Data"
In your case it appears that you have problem with your PPD as it says:
E [31/Jan/2017:22:27:10 +0200] [CGI] Unable to generate PPD file.
E [31/Jan/2017:22:27:10 +0200] copy_model: empty PPD file

Probably you can improve your problem checking your PPD file, and the computer doesn't connect to your printer (maybe you should add the hostname of your printer an the address in /etc/hosts)

On a closer look, in /var/log/cups/error_log it states:

As if it couldn't find any file /opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6510dw/cupswrapper/brcupsconfpt1 running /usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_mfcj6510dw
but
$ ls /opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6510dw/cupswrapper
brcupsconfpt1 brother_mfcj6510dw_printer_en.ppd cupswrappermfcj6510dw

I solved my problem, changing the permissions of /opt/brother/Printers/mfcj6510dw/cupswrapper/brcupsconfpt1.
I hope you can solve your too
