Starting user manager for UID 120" loop during startup

Hi,
Actually, my Clevo laptop failed to start.
first show a "clean" message and freeze.
I do remove quiet mode on boot aznd see that systemd stop at line:
[OK] "Started User Manager for uid 120."

just after [OK] "Create slice User Slice gdm"
it show this message (without [OK] first)
, then an other obne line [OK] "started Session c1 or user gdm"
and finally:
[OK] "Started User Manager for uid 120."

nothing more... it stay frozen for all the time.

I'm searching for an help, i also can not call tty terminal for stop gdm and see more... or actually, keyboard seems to freeze

Search for GDM issues; there are plenty of them.

Read the systemd page of the wiki and boot into single user mode and remove/disable GDM.

Re: Starting user manager for UID 120" loop during startup

Hi Anarchist
Thank you for your great idea.
I do boot on single mode user by just add "single" (without quotes) on linux boot image line in grub (edit by press key "e" at boot time), then remove gdm and use lxdm. Then try xdm-archlinux and stay with xdm-archlinux (systemctl disable gdm, then systemctl enable lxdm).
that resolve my problem to no more use gdm or any gnome things.

You can anyway switch on another shell with e.g. Alt + F2 and do a root login. Then just restart GDM

systemctl restart gdm
