Re: Hashcat not seeing the nvidia driver

The GPU doesn't respond on the PCI.
This can have various reasons (underpowered, your GPU dropped out of support of the mainline driver, a bug in the nvidia driver, an optimus/bumblebee issue) and be a temporary as much as a permanent problem.

This

NVRM: None of the NVIDIA graphics adapters were initialized!

suggests that you've no supported device present, ie. your GPU is simply too old for the driver version in use, but you didn't state any present or imminent issue that you wish to solve, nor the condition and setup of your system.

Re: Hashcat not seeing the nvidia driver

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA_Optimus
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bumblebee

The nvidia chip is no VGA controller and can only be invoked using the above techniques (one is a general oversight, the other one a popular way to do it)

Re: Hashcat not seeing the nvidia driver

Installed bumblebee with nvidia through pacman now when i run 'optirun glxgears info' to test it. It is giving me this

optirun glxgears -info
[ 109.654393] [ERROR]The Bumblebee daemon has not been started yet or the socket path /var/run/bumblebee.socket was incorrect.
[ 109.654535] [ERROR]Could not connect to bumblebee daemon - is it running?

also output of systemctl status bumblebeed is:

Re: Hashcat not seeing the nvidia driver

I don't understand why bumblebee tries to load some "nvidia-current" module (that's afaics more a ubuntu thing), but you need the nvidia-lts package, not the nvidia one.

Re: Hashcat not seeing the nvidia driver

No, that's fine - the module name is still "nvidia".
bbswitch-lts is simply not installed, but I still don't understand the resolution of "nvidia-current" - is this manjaro?

sudo bumblebeed -vv --driver nvidia

Re: Hashcat not seeing the nvidia driver

[  929.939818] [ERROR]Module 'nvidia' is not found.

"modinfo nvidia"

As long as you're running the lts kernel, you need the nvidia-lts package, however there's still the "fallen off the bus" message in your dmesg so regardless of what bumblebee reports, the problem seems to be rather the unsuccessful load (and it then may try a static list of module names as resort) - you can likely not "sudo modprobe nvidia" but that will rather not tell you "Module nvidia not found in directory"?

How's the condition with the mainline kernel?
