Hey, I've got something like that in some Unreal Tournament 2004, especcialy in the DM-Orbital2 map.

It may be a good idea to describe your graphics card and driver you use.

Meanwhile I installed ET Pro and it does not have this problem.
I'm not really affected by this problem anymore seeing that I play mainly on ET Pro servers.
Anyway, my graphics card is a GeForce4 MX 440 64MB and I'm using the latest nvidia drivers (8762) from the extra repository.

I had this problem when I updated to a more recent nvidia driver.
You might try adding
Option "TripleBuffer" "true"
to the Device Section in your xorg.conf. I found that solved most of the problems with screens like that. Although some maps still occassionaly get all screwy, just enable Sync every frame under the System options in ET.
Might drop some FPS, but at least you can see whats going on.
Hope that helps.

I had the same problem as kps -- etpro seemed fine but etpub had problems -- and using the nvidia-legacy package instead of nvidia fixed things for me.
