Kernel compilation (asp) generates many warnings

Is it normal that compiling the kernel fetched via asp generates many warnings? eg when I looked I saw some in drivers/crypto, hid, sound/pci, drivers/block..

The last three or four kernels have generated more warnings than usual.

Fortunately I didn't get any errors, just warnings. Let's say "normal" means that it happens for the majority (>50%) of people. Let's say "many" means more than 10. So rephrased:
Does the majority of people get more than 10 warnings when they compile the kernel via asp + makepkg?
If the answer is "yes", I'll just assume that everything is fine and in order.

I don't know. I don't watch other people compile kernels. I just know from my own experience, that the last couple of kernels have thrown warnings.

I'm sure the LKML has more information.

There are some new warnings in gcc7. For example -Wformat-truncation=

In post 2 JWR did say error messages, but the link he gave that elaborates on the point says post complete logs, output, and/or error messages. Warnings would fall in that category.

If you feel your question is sufficiently answered, then please mark the thread as solved.
