Re: Laptops which run Arch

Dell Latitude 3470.
This lil' guy is just perfect, but this is not a laptop review.
It just works. There just nothing that doesn't work, because it has Intel Graphics, and, well, that's all. All keys work (except maybe for screens button, which works as 'p' letter for some reason).
This is Linux Laptop I was looking for, and I found it.
I still want old thinkpad though...

Re: Laptops which run Arch

ThinkPad T420 here. Was running Win10 on it but went "What the hell." one day and jumped to Arch. Pretty smooth running Arch on it. Have toyed with the idea of trying Gentoo but the thing that keeps me from doing so is the AUR. Also the reason I came back to Arch after trying Void Linux and elementary OS as well.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

I'm on an early 2015 Macbook Pro at the moment.

I'd used Arch quite a bit a few years ago so I just decided to install it on a new partition on a whim and get back into using it again. I'm really enjoying things so far, although setting some things up like the resolution and trackpad has proved a bit annoying.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

@Sachiko, I couldn't be more pleased with Arch on my T420. I also have Arch on an older Thinkpad,  an R61. Arch plays well with both of them.

@mrunion, you have me drooling with envy. A very sleek design.

HP ProBook 4520s.

Arch works really well for me. This toasterbook was struggling with Ubuntu, but so far everything works great! (Except for bluetooth)
But that's a hardware issue...

Re: Laptops which run Arch

Alienware 15R3 with i7-7700HQ and RX470. Works fine, except for Power Management, which is still a hot mess. Firmware does not properly support Linux, and the dGPU can not yet be fully powered down, because amdgpu apparently wasn't made with laptops in mind... But as long as the power cord is plugged in, it's a great machine!

Lenovo x201.
Everything, but modem, works perfectly (I haven't tested it yet); even fingerprint reader, extrakeys, and low level battery driver. By significant improves on 4.12 kernel my battery (enlarge version) works even more then 9 hours.

Asus Zenbook UX303LB, everything works fine, no problems reported following the Arch Installation Guide, in dual-boot with W10 on the same SSD.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

Acer Aspire E1-522-3407
a bit dated, but it's the laptop that the other half used to use to talk to me before she moved locally, so it has sentimental value. also, it runs pretty well with Arch vs. the bloated OS it came with. had some initial issues with getting the ATI/AMD drivers sorted, but (mostly) sorted now (having issues getting AMDGPU to work with the -zen kernel, but works with the regular kernel).

bought a 5gHz wifi dongle from China, but the drivers don't build properly so I'm using the 2.4gHz only atm.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

Sager NP8265 (Clevo P150SM).

Oldie but goldie, I guess. Everything but airplane mode seems to be working. It's old. 5 years or so. Haswell i7 4700MQ, Nvidia 770M (Optimus).

Still working on getting Optimus to work properly, but everything else worked out-of-the-box.

Currently running KDE, and love it. Much better than Windows 10.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

Thinkpad X260 with a 120GB SSD I stuck inside.

No issues once I figured out what I was doing. Battery life used to be a lot better on windows until I installed TLP then I think arch is pretty much the same.

I'm running i3-gaps which also helps the battery life I guess smile.

Packard Bell EasyNote TS44HR.

It has some years but it's a quite powerfull laptop and all works great with it. It has Nvidia Optimus technology. Arch runs fast and stable in this laptop.
