If i try to start apache from rc.d it reports a fail and no message is reported in my error.log, so i tried apachectl directly which results in the following error:
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 78: 24862 Segmentation fault $HTTPD $ARGV
If i run the httpd daemon directly, it works...odd. :?
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both apache and db, the latter as a result of another forum post i saw, both to no avail. I'm using a fresh config dir in /etc.
I noticed this fail on bootup a few days ago but my attention was elsewhere and i've only come to deal with it today, as a result i don't have a clue what package (if any) has broken it.
Thanks for any help.

Didn't work for me, however, similar posts in other forums have suggested that it is module problems. I'll experiment.

Hello,
in my case, the dbd-module was causing problems I think. I commented out al modules with dbd in them.
Anyway, I'm compiling the older version again on my own since I use mod_auth_kerb and mod_python and I don't know when/if they support the new version.
Greetings,
Michel.

I had this problem several weeks ago. I found a known bug with auth_digest_module that can delay the start of apache for over 20 mins in some cases. Commented it out of the httpd.conf file and all was well. This did not cause a seg fault -- that is something else.
