Hello everyone!
I installed arch linux on my new laptop and I can not make HDMI audio to work. It worked fine in my previous laptop (which had ArchLinux installed too). The laptop audio is working, I tried changin to all card profiles with pavucontrol and pacmd but the only one who works is the built-in laptop speakers. Any of devices showed with "aplay -l" works with aplay (except the laptop one), as is told in the wiki, but with "speakert-test" output the pink noise from my monitor.
The problem is similar to the one in this post:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=207085
But it didn't help to change the sample rate, as it did there.
Some outputs from aplay and pacmd:

Hello
For me HDMI works with kernel 4.12.13-1, but not with kernel 4.13.3-1

I have the same problem on my intel nuc. Sound stopped working with the last update to kernel 4.13.  But i cannot find any error messages.
If i start the LTS kernel sound is working again.
Any ideads?

Can confirm, switching to LTS kernel "fixed" it for me. Must have been one of the recent updates since my NUC is a dedicated system for video playback and nothing changed other than upgrading a couple packages, the kernel being one of them. Playback via the headphone jack still worked.

Try to boot with
intel_iommu=offin your kernel parameters on 4.13, it might be involved.

The opposite here, I updated my kernel to 4.13.3-1 yesterday and now it is working for me.

Hello
That solved my issue with hdmi

Apparently with 4.13 the default configuration changed to CONFIG_INTEL_IOMMU_DEFAULT_ON=y.
See also: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/55629 . It seems that this can produce more trouble than just the sound system.

I will keep this in mind in case I have more problems.

I think we have to wait for the linux-4.13.5 package. They disabled the option again: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/pack … 3bcf1beba9
