Random wifi network freezes in specific applications on 5GHz Wifi

Hey,

I am experiencing weird issue. While pinging e.g. google.com works flawlessly all the time without any packet dropped. But during the very same time, SOME of the pages opened in Chromium get disconnected (e.g. google docs) or can't load at all (it's domain independent - I can e.g. load google search result while not being able to load google calendar). The same experience is for slack desktop application - some messages aren't sent or I get "connection error", while others work. Any idea where to look for debug information? There is nothing in the logs... It happens only on 5GHz wifi.

Could be caused by over-zealous firewalling of ICMP, which breaks path MTU discovery.

E.g. To check that an MTU of 1492 works:
ping -M do -c 1 -s 1464 ms.com

Thanks, I will try it as soon as I get to that wifi. But I found out another interesting detail - it happens only on 5GHz wifi.

How far away are you from the AP?
Does it also happen when you move very close to it?
