[SOLVED] No audio after update

After an update sound stopped working in any application of my laptop. I've browsed for fixes in Archlinux forums, but to no avail.

Here some info for debugging:

I could post as well ouputs from aplay, /dev/snd, fuser, lsmod if requested, although I believe the alsa-info url has it all.

AFAIK everything seems to be fine and I don't see any error. I have unmuted the Master in alsamixer and tried a variety of things on alsamixer, but it won't work.

I believe the update that made the audio mute was this:

Then I reinstalled pulseaudio:

Why do you think libidn2 affects your audio?

Oh, I don't think it does. In fact, I looked into it and it doesn't have anything to do with audio at all. But everything worked up to that update. Prior to this update I installed these packages:

But I believe that audio was working after these installs. And they don't have anything to do with audio in any case.

I mean, if an update didn't make audio stop working, what did it? I hadn't touched any audio configuration file, and I reinstalled pulseaudio when I noticed this problem. What other packages should I reinstall to restore the audio system to a fresh install state?

I noticed that sink <0> was muted, in the ouput of

 pacmd list-sinks

So I went again to pulseAudio troubleshooting page, and with the help of Muted Audio Device and Output stuck muted while... I got audio back on.

Even though I still don't know why I got my audio device muted, I know how to fix it so I'll mark this thread as solved.
