Dell Inspiron 510m. Everything works great. The modem should work, but I've never actually needed to use it so I've never bothered. Internal Intel 802.11b card should work, again never have used it since I have a 802.11g cardbus device which works using madwifi.

Thinkpad 600X (PIII)
Using Prism54 pcmcia card for wireless, sound, mouse, usb all working.  Including hibernate, suspend with beond kernel.

Fluxbox + gkrellm + wmdrawer = 21MB memory footprint  big_smile

Only my special function keys don't work, but thats 600X specific.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

I've got an Asus A6KQ30 (A6000 series) after "blacklisted" uhcd-hcd and ehci-hcd in order to bypass an udev freeze, i've got arch running pretty well.
There is just the MMC/MS card reader which doesn't work, and i've not tested the webcam.
Currently using Arch64 on the laptop, and nothing to say .

Asus A8J
Core duo, ipw3945 (with proprietary daemon), Gforce 7600...
Everything works well, except the MemoryStick reader & the webcam.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

Acer 1644WLmi. EVERYTHING works (included, say, hotkeys and extra leds and winmodem).

There are plenty of posts around in the web concerning this acer laptops series: they use distros which pretends to work almost out of the box, and consistently nothing works. In arch EVERYTHING

Re: Laptops which run Arch

HP Compaq nc6120.

Linux is very friendly with this Laptop.

The only thing that does not work is the media card reader, as it's not supported for linux yet (or so i've read).

Only "patch" i needed to install by hand to get the native 1400x1050 screen resolution was 915resolution, as according to sources from the net it's a BIOS issue.

I haven't tried suspend yet, but others have reported that it is indeed working.

Although I haven't tried the modem yet, hwd reports that it uses the Hsf:www.linmodems.org drivers, which are the correct ones for the modem on this laptop.

hotkeys can be configured to work, following this tutorial

Re: Laptops which run Arch

Running Arch on four laptops here:

1.  An IBM Thinkpad X31.  Centrino chip works great with IPW2100.
2.  IBM Thinkpad X30 with Cisco 802.11g pcmcia card (needs Madwifi).
3.  Acer Travelmate TVXI610.
4.  Dell Latitude C400.

Works great on all machines.  Wireless, sound, display all work fine.

I currently have an HP zd7140 which has worked great for the past 2.5 years or so.  Everything works flawlessly except for the media card reader, but that's common.  Also note that the wifi card is broadcom, which is *now* supported but required ndiswrapper for a long time.

i have basically the same laptop, an HP zd7180. i have no idea how to get wireless working, as ive never used it but i need it now that my ethernet port got broken by someone in my house...as long as it works thats good, ill look on how to get that going now.
everything works great except that card reader like he mentioned.

iBook G3 (white)

everything works perfectly (DRI, sound, airport etc.) but for the integrated microphone which doesn't show up as an alsa device. guess the recording quality of that thing wouldn't be worth the hassle anyway though. smile

Acer Aspire 1694wlmi, runs, but had alot of problems initially, most problems have been solved by updates or by little tricks/hacks

Can't think of anything that doesn't work. In fact, with FnFx.. my multimedia keys on the front of my laptop work better than they did in Windows.

Acer Travelmate 370,

everything works except for the sd card reader, which is a proprietary one by Ricoh who refuse to release documentation.

Thinkpad T30,

I don't think anything on it *doesn't* work with linux. I never had a use for the Svideo, but I hear it's supported. Setting up the winmodem was a pain in the butt though. I love being able to hibernate, and suspend it. Works like a dream.

Toshiba Satellite M45-S355 -- all works except ACPI, but I didn't try to setup ACPI properly. All other works out of the box.

Re: Laptops which run Arch

I have a Samsung X05.
That's an Pentium M with 1.4 GHz.
Everything is working quite good. I think I could tune acpi much more - but atm I don't need it.

suspend to ram or disk would probably work - but I have too much ram and to low swap ...
