Note sure if it would work with steam what about strace? What network calls are made just before the message "Error Code: -7"?

You didn't happen by any chance to start Steam in Offline mode?

I can download and purchase games and play either just the market and store and totally the parts of steam does not work that needs http or https I think, but steampowered.com also its market works fine on browser. I didn't check it's protocol on browser, (I'm in Windows atm)
What network calls are made just before the message "Error Code: -7"?
nothing, just the screen you are waiting to open up.

You ran steam through strace and it showed no network calls before the message "Error Code: -7"?
What strace options were you using?

I don't know if you're interested in this proposal: install Steam from flatpak, it works perfectly.

Are you sure you didn't block some related IP ?, you did have a thread where you've done something similar.

is it an official repository ?
it seems like a legit one, but I don't know is it official or not.
I don't think so the package provided from flatpak has more reliability than official repository.
