Booting off the latest base ISO. I choose auto-partition, wait a while, then it segfaults and dumps me out to the command line. All I get is "segmentation fault," nothing more specific. Should I just partition manually or does this imply a bigger problem?

Make your partition manually. I've seen that there is an option for auto-partition but I haven't expected that anybody is actually using it. We are archlinux not SuSE ;-)
Can you test if auto-partition works for you with the arch32 install cd?
Offline
It works on the Arch32 CD. I have no problem partitioning manually, it's just that I was testing the auto-prepare, and this segfault concerns me...

I will have a look into the installer code for the next release. Remember it/me for the next release cycle.

I've just tested it here. Auto partitioning created 3 partitions well: boot+swap+/. No problem here.
So I think the problem is not the auto-preparing of the hard disk. Maybe it's kernel related(apic or something like that) or a corrupted download.

same problem here;I also did a manual fdisk, same problem.Tried by fdisking with gentoo to no avail.
It actually formats the disc (checked with gentoo ) It just produces a long list with "segfaulting" and does so with the ftp-only disk and with base.
