I think it looks fine, and you can always just sed it yout if you don't like it, because it looks like you are the minority.

Yes - actually so much that I've started doing the same in my own scripts...

Same, that's why the mkinitcpio image uses it.

I'm a little slow...I don't really understand what y'all are talking about. Can anyone dumb it down for me?

Sure. When you boot, there are informational/progress messages displayed: mounting fs, loading modules, starting daemons, etc. In front of each line there is a double colon '::'. It's just an estetic issue.

I don't like the default Arch boot message "style" at all, so I changed everything a bit.
But, it's still better than no color at all as in many distributions.
Offline
LOL...I was all expecting it to be ultra-technical. I like them too, but don't really think about it much either way.
Offline
Yeah, I thought it'd be technical too Something about C++... nevermind.
Anyway, I like the ::, I also use that as a deliminator for horizontal navigation bars on websites.
Offline
I think it looks pretty sexy how it is. Arch is definitely my favorite startup system both configuration- and esthetic-wise.

I guess I need to reboot more often.
I suggest you sneek something in like next time.

I don't like '::'. Don't see any need in it. As for me '' is better.

As of this moment, treating "Don't Care" as an abstain:

So, 83.673% of forum users that have taken the time to vote and have an opinion on the matter like it.
Me, I couldn't care either way.
