Is kernel 2.6.3 hotplug useable with usb-storage devices ? Since these devices are scsi devices it would seem hotplug is not an option since they are mounted and unmounted.
Therefore, it would seem that hotplug is not useable with storage devices. Is that correct?

You can use hotplug for storage devices.

Thanks for the help.. Found it as sda1 after fixing the jumper for the IEEE1394 function on my motherboard. It is up and running with.... modprobe ohci1394.
It has very slow transfer speed so I assume the drive is at fault.
