xrandr displays two monitors even though only one is connected

I'm using a laptop with hybrid graphics intel/nvidia. I've followed the instructions in the wiki entry about Nvidia Optimus, meaning my Xorg.conf and .xinitrc are exactly the same as in the article. Now though, xrandr acts as if there were two LVDS displays, which confuses my window manager (bspwm) about needing to set up a workspace for a non-existant display. Here's the output of xrandr:

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1600 x 900, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA-0 disconnected primary (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS-0 connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
   1600x900 59.94 +
DVI-D-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS-1-1 connected 1600x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
   1600x900 59.94*+ 59.94 59.82

   320x240 60.05
   360x202 59.51 59.13
   320x180 59.84 59.32
VGA-1-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

As you can see, there's a display called LVDS-0 "connected" in the xrandr output, which doesn't actually exist. I've tried running

xrandr --output LVDS-0 --off

But nothing happens when executing that command. Anyone know how to fix this?

Re: xrandr displays two monitors even though only one is connected

I managed to fix the issue of bspwm by adding

bspc monitor LVDS-0 -r

to my bspwmrc, but that's just a hack.
