System froze during update - kernel panic

Hello, I was updating my system and my computer froze.

Hence, I tried to fix this by using the installation USB. I did the following (my system is in /dev/sda4):

mount /dev/sda4 /mnt                    
arch-chroot /mnt
pacman -Syu

However, the following error occured:

pacman: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libzstd.so.1: file too short

I would like to know if my approach is correct or what must be done to fix this issue.

After executing:

 pacman --sysroot /mnt -Syyu

It says that several /var/cache/pacman/pkg/*.tar.gz files are corrupted (invalid or corrupted packaes (PGP signature))

I tried

 find /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ -iname "*.part" -exec rm {} \;

However, it did not work.

I also tried to to repopulate the keys 'pacman-key --populate', but it did not work either.

And stop doing -Syyu: just -Syu to update.

Ensure you got sufficient space in the cache (which will likely be your install iso…) and utilize "--cachedir"
Also check the sanity of your installed system ("-Qkk", don't forget the sysroot)

nb. that you're also updating the kernel, so ensure to have your boot partition mounted in /mnt/boot
